Professional Biography

Television and Media Strategist, Marta Tracy, works with TV and Media companies as a specialist in talent and development across multiple-media platforms. Her experience as a founding producer of E! Entertainment Television and The Style Network has attracted a wide client base consisting of large and small brands. She is currently consulting for PEOPLE magazine’s managing editor on a variety of business development projects. For the editor of PEOPLE.com, she develops new video franchises for their award-winning website.

With the launch of her book, STARRING YOU! The Insiders’ Guide to Using TV and Media to Launch Your Brand, Your Business And Your Life! (July 2007), Tracy has been sought after by companies and entrepreneurs for brand development, positioning and content creation. A partial client list includes PR firms such as Blue Sky Communications, Behrman Communications and individual brands such as Helen Ficalora Jewelry, Color by Cynde Watson and Lilyfield Cakes.

Most recently, Tracy was an executive creative consultant at Sony Pictures Television in New York, where she worked in daytime talk show syndication. She was initially hired by Sony to launch “Life & Style,” a daytime syndicated talk show designed to be a younger, hipper version of “The View.” At “Life & Style”, she orchestrated the development of on-line content, product integration and product placement.

Prior to Sony, Tracy worked as acting head of programming for WE: Woman’s Entertainment Network and also worked for Court TV as a consultant on the reality series “Hollywood At Large.”

As the senior vice president of programming and development for The Style Network (April 1998 to July 2001), Tracy created, developed and launched the first and only network dedicated to fashion, beauty, home design and entertaining. From the production of original series and specials to casting to on-air design and promotion, Tracy was the central force behind the network’s high-profile image and brand.

Under her leadership, Style attracted trendsetters such as Valentino, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, Badgley Mischka, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera, Gizele Buchanan, Kate Spade, Bobbie Brown, Frederic Fekkai and super brands such as Vogue, Gucci, Sephora, Bliss, House Beautiful, Elle Decor, W and Harper’s Bazaar.

As an executive producer, Tracy’s out-of-the-box thinking and innovative programming drew coveted 18-35 year old viewers and accompanying advertisers to the network. For example, she secured the exclusive broadcast license with 7th on Sixth to televise New York Fashion Week as a bi-annual Style event. Tracy also executive produced the first “live” runway show from New York Fashion Week featuring the collection of Sean John, which was simulcast on Style and E! She also oversaw the development of brand building programming including: “The Look For Less,” “Shabby Chic with Rachel Ashwell,” “Glow: The Beauty Show,” “Vogue Takes…,” "Stylemaker," "Model," "Runway," "Dining WIth Style" and "Homes With Style."

Prior to her work at The Style Network, Tracy was the vice president of original programming and development for E! Entertainment Television. She was one of the principal architects responsible for creating the E! brand and for developing and executive producing hundreds of hours of series and specials including major hits like “The E! True Hollywood Story,” the Emmy winning “Talk Soup,” and “Mysteries & Scandals.” She trail blazed the fashion genre at E!, there by paving the way for the launch of many of the network’s signature shows including, “E! Live Events,” “Fashion Review,” “Fashion Emergency” and “Model.”

Tracy came to E! from HBO where she co-produced the pilot and programming model that evolved into E! Entertainment Television. She also was the executive producer of talent and entertainment features, producing behind-the-scenes shows and segments on celebrities, movies, and music including the launch of HBO Entertainment News with Matt Lauer.

Tracy was trained by the industry’s top brand leaders at Nickelodeon and also worked in various programming capacities at CBS TV and The USA Network.

Tracy is a graduate of Boston College with an honors degree in Communications and Psychology.
