Here's What Anna Wintour Told Me About Good Style l The Friday 3: September 10, 2021

It's Friday!

This week, I’m sharing the three things that I learned about style.

1) I'm getting...

Insider tips from fashion icons.

As a head of programming and development for E! and later The Style Network for many years, I interviewed many fashion icons about what makes great style. After talking to the likes of Anna Wintour, Michael Kors, Valentino and more, here’s what came up as the top three notes for women and men.

For Women:

1. Great hair (cut, color, styling)

2. Great sunglasses (fit for your face)

3. Great handbag (invest in a quality purse that you can wear every day)

For Men:

1. Great hair (cut, color, styling)

2. Great watch

3. Great shoes

2) I'm awaiting...

The photos and red carpet video from this year's Met Gala.

Monday, September 13th brings us the long-awaited Met Gala, which is held immediately after New York Fashion Week (September 7th – September 12th). The Met Gala is usually held annually in May and considered to be fashion’s equivalent to the Oscar’s. The soiree was cancelled last year due to Covid-19 and comes back this year as a smaller, more intimate affair.

Here are some things you need to know:

1. What is it? : Designers, models and Hollywood stars convene to celebrate and fundraise at a new exhibit from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Exhibit in New York City.

2. What’s This Year’s Theme: Celebrating All Things American Fashion

3. Who’s Co-Chairing: Timothee Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka. Tom Ford, Instagram’s Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour will serve as honorary chairs.

It’s a highly publicized event, so there will be a red carpet coverage on the steps of the Met and you can see it all “live” on E! and on vogue.com in addition to national coverage on syndicated and local shows and news outlets.

If you’re curious about this year’s Met Gala, here is everything you need to know.

3) I'm following...

CEO of Instagram Adam Mosseri's Instagram account.

I was curious to see Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, is one of this year’s co-chairs for the Met Gala, so I decided to take a look at the king of Instagram’s feed? I wondered … what does the CEO of Instagram post?

Here are the three things I learned Adam Mosseri:

1. He is an American-Israel businessman.

2. He was formerly head of Facebook and designed their newsfeed.

3. He’s net worth is $120 million.

“As the father of three children, I know that I need to make the Instagram experience for young people safe, secure and also enjoyable."

- Adam Mosseri

So what does the head of Instagram post on his Instagram feed? He shares tips on how to use the app, the latest Instagram announcements, behind the scenes content, and even some fun family photos.

If you want to get some tips on Instagram from their head cheese, you can follow Adam Mosseri on Instagram here.

Have a great weekend!

All my best,

Marta Tracy
